There are as many ways to begin as there are journeys to undertake. The way we begin is up to you.

While there are a number of modalities that I offer, I have learned that the most effective healing work is that which happens organically between two people. To that end, I offer a customized option where we start from scratch and work our way up.

I do offer a free initial phone consultation where I can answer any questions you have and you can get a sense of who I am and if you feel we are a good fit.

I'm Lara, founder of Ritual Wisdom.

My own journey really got started around 2007, when I first took a yoga class. The class was challenging, and being so long ago, I don't remember much except the bare white room, the challenge of Warrior II, and where the clock was, because I was watching it tick.

I do, however, remember the end of the class.
I was laying on my mat in savasana when the teacher proceeded to gently pull my ankles away from my body, providing a subtle, but delightful stretch. The smallest of assists, in a pose I now know to be so often neglected, was revelatory. The warmth of her hands and the subtlety of the stretch triggered an awareness and a mindfulness that persisted long after.

My journey continued informally for a few years, with me reading voraciously anything I could find about views of spirituality and human experience that differed from those I was exposed to in my suburban North American upbringing. My formal training began in 2013 when I undertook a yoga teaching program.
I honestly figured the program would be a standard job training. That it would equip me with the tools to teach safely and send me on my way. It certainly did give me those tools, but more than that, it opened me up to an entire language and framework with which to think about myself and my relationship to the universe. Something I had craved for years but had never been able to adequately express.

In 2015 I continued formal education on the human condition when I began studying psychology, wanting to understand more about how we become who we are. How we develop our understanding of the world. How to change our behaviors when they don't serve us anymore.
I quickly branched out in two seemingly dichotomous directions: neuroscience and religious studies. Each give us such a profound insight into our experiences and tells us about what it's like to be human, to be conscious, to be alive. My main area of focus became how we use the tools we have at our disposal to make ourselves better.

In 2021 I began applying the information I had collected by working to help others find their own personal practice towards peace and wholeness.

I now work one-on-one and in small groups with folks who are seeking to go deeper into their journey of self, whatever that looks like for them. This has included a range of approaches, from somatic practices aimed at bringing awareness back to the body, to more esoteric methods aimed at growing your comfort with your own intuition.

The most important part of our work together is your ideas. You bring yourself, and together we will create a map and a framework that fits you.
